TRANSFORMER OIL TEST
ü Di-electric Test or Break Down Voltage Test
ü Viscosity Test
ü Acidity Test
Break Down Voltage Test
International standard
ü 2.5 mm gap between two electrodes, Applied voltage 25 KV for 1 min.
· 2.5 mm-25 KV-1 min: No Spark at oil, Oil is ok, Oil can be used at any voltage
level.
· Energy Pac follows this standard.
ü 4.0 mm gap between two electrodes, Applied voltage 45 KV for 1 min.
Acidity test
Acidity Level:
0.5 mg KOH/gm (Oil is ok.)
0.5 to 1.0 mg KOH/gm (Under observation)
1.0 mg KOH/mg (Discard Oil)
Viscosity Test
ü Viscosity of the oil increases as the oxidation reaction increases.
ü Oxidation increases as the dissolved gas of the oil increases.
ü By Dissolved Gas Analysis, the dissolved gas in the oil can be identified.
ü As the viscosity increases the oil turns bulky and it moves slowly and its insulation
capabilities gradually deteriorates.
ü Viscosity should be as low as possible.
Insulation Resistance Test
ü Japanese Standard: (Rated Voltage*2+1) KV dc is applied.
